Where to Invade Next is a documentary about America in comparison to other countries and how we can learn from them. A summary of the film can be found in my blog post: Summary of Where to Invade Next. In this post I will find three topics and write an argument for them.
Topic: Education in America Research Question: Should America provide free education to its citizens? Argument: America should provide free education to it’s citizens because colleges and universities seem to overcharge its students. Over charging for education leads people to feel helpless and not wanting to further their education. Topic: Vacation time in America Research Question: Should companies give employees paid vacation days? Argument: Companies should provide paid vacation days to their employees to raise company morale and lower illness rates. In Italy, employees get eight-weeks paid vacation. This has made employees happier and more productive in their work day. On average Italians live 4 years longer then Americans. Topic: Maternity leave Research Question: Should America provide longer paid maternity leave? Argument: America should provide longer and paid maternity leave. On average, Americans take about 10 weeks of maternity time with pay depending on the company. By 10 weeks you are still learning your child and developing a schedule. In Italy, women are given five months paid maternity leave.

I agree with Kelli! You have a pretty strong argument! I think you would write a great paper on that topic! I look forward to reading more!

I strongly agree with all 3 of your research questions. You made a good point about America providing a longer maternity leave. The amount of time that's given to an American women isn't nearly enough. The first year of your child's life is the most important and most exciting. The mother should be able to enjoy that time while getting paid.

Hi Victoria, I like your argument about maternity leave and I agree with it. Ten days are insufficient for both the mother and the infant to be separated from each other .
